Men's A-2 Flight Jackets
Blend your Outfit with these Classic A-2 Flight Jackets this Winter
When the A-2 flight jacket was introduced in 1931 as a successor for the A-1 flight jacket formerly used by aviators throughout the 1920s, it was intended primarily to modernize everything about the A-1, years before the war even began.
The A-2 was manufactured in significant numbers until 1943, and pilots and crews who wore them long after the war ended considered them valuable belongings. The stories the jackets could convey were evoked in the way pilots and crew modified their A-2s with unit patches and, more often, painted artwork that was distinctive to the individual or reflected the front artwork of their flight.
The WWII Government Issued inspired TheLeatherCity’s A-2 flight jacket is a dedication to this renowned American jacket phenomena. Our classic A-2 brown leather flight jackets are expertly manufactured from full grain sheepskin and cowhide leather, finished in Seal Brown or our dark brown Mahogany, just as the original contract stipulates. The sheepskin has been tanned to look out of the box, but it will break in with time, exposing the characteristic structure of the leather and a classic weathered patina. We’ve also gone to great lengths to ensure that this A-2 jacket fits true to size for today’s body types and builds. All of these elements combine to make this the ideal everyday jacket, while maintaining the classic A-2 shape and appearance. Our WWII A-2 Naval Pilot Jackets are an American classic and are meticulously handcrafted with professional expertise, whether worn when flying a vintage warbird, heading home on your bike, or simply teaming it with Jeans and a T-shirt for a traditional tough style. Long sizes are also available for this jacket.
